Happy Daiz Dogs

A behaviour and training forward company with safety, welfare and enrichment providing our backbone. You can be sure we've got your pet covered.

A Little Bit About Daizy

I created 'HappyDaizDogs Ltd' in 2023 with the aim of progressing my rescue work within the community. Prior to this, I created and managed 'Skye’s Pet Care Ltd' as a Director back in July 2021 with my then business partner. This is where I first found my feet within the pet care industry in our surrounding community. I wanted to pursue different business aims and projects, so I decided to leave Skye's Pet Care in order to continue with my independent growth and animal rescue endeavours.

Before I found myself in the business world, I lived and worked at Hula Animal Rescue (also known as the National Animal Welfare Trust) for 3+ years. This is where me and my partner Shaun met. During my time at the rescue centre, I was able to cement and utilize my studies, and further grow my knowledge, skills and experience with animals. Beyond this, I extended my understanding of animal behaviour, the animal care industry and of course, animal handling. I learnt a lot in rescue and gained a lot of experience. This is where I discovered my true passion for animal rescue, behaviour & training.

Regarding my animal specific educational background, I have an extended Diploma in animal science lvl3 where we studied things such as nutrition, management, biochemistry, and zoology. During my studies, I also worked with and cared for a vast variety of animal species exotic and domesticated - from lemurs, capybaras, snakes, caiman to rabbits and farm animals. I even helped successfully breed Fiji iguanas for conservation which had not previously been achieved in captivity. I have done k9 first aid courses, online nutrition courses, and dog & cat behaviour courses.

Me and Shaun have many animals at home in our zoo! I have 3 dogs - a Russian Toy Fox Terrier named Smeagol, a Staffie named George and a German Shepherd named Lilith. We also have 2 cats named Little Dot and Tiny Tim (who has 3 legs), a rescued cannibalistic chicken we called evil bird, 4 rabbits and lots of exotics! Growing up I was surrounded by animals at home, from horses to peacocks - we kept a large collection of birds, poultry, and even a pig! I have a lot of experience with all types of animals, including domestic, wild/feral, insects and exotics.

A Little Bit About Shaun

Originally from Bolton, when I moved down here I found my feet in the Animal Industry. I met Daizy in 2018 when I started working full time at Hula Animal Rescue, which is now known as the National Animal Welfare Centre. I still work full time as an Animal Care Mentor at Hula when I'm not busy helping out over at HappyDaizDogs. Before this I worked at WoodGreen Animal Rescue as a rehoming Co-ordinator which kick started my Animal Rescue Journey.

Canine Training, nutrition and behaviour is a big passion and hobby of mine, as well as exotics and farm. So you'll always catch me helping out on dog walks, assisting with training work, looking after and chilling with the dogs.

Me and Daizy love exploring and going on adventures with our crazy 3 dogs. I also love spending time at home with the animals whilst playing Video Games and Gardening. Previously, I worked for Japanese Koi Carp and pond specialists in Bedford, working with the fish and planning/building/maintaining the ponds.

A Little Bit About Laura

I have been an animal lover all my life, beginning my journey in animal care as a child raising multiple litters of kittens with my family, looking after chickens and walking dogs. Me and Daizy have been friends ever since we met at 6 years old, bonding quickly through love of our pets, petting rabbits and picking up ducks. It's wonderful that our friendship has continued into adulthood and we now do the same things together professionally!

Although I occasionally provide a helping hand with the animal care when I'm in the area, I work remotely mostly tied to a computer sorting out all the administrative duties, building websites and researching ways to help the business grow.

I lived in Cornwall for 7 years and have recently moved to Sheffield to begin a Masters in Musicology as I have studied Music all my life and I am extremely passionate about it. I enjoy going to gigs, big walks, playing video games and of course visiting animal sanctuaries around the UK. Unfortunately I do not currently have a pet with my 23 year old cat passing away in 2023, but I'm hoping to get another cat in the very near future to finally make my new house a home!
